VVS Added to the FTSE Global Micro Cap Index, Expanding VIMID’s Presence in the International Investment Landscape
VVS shares of Vietnam Machine Investment Development Joint Stock Company (VIMID) have officially been added to the FTSE Global Micro Cap Index, part of the FTSE Global Equity Index Series (FTSE GEIS) for the Asia Pacific region (except for japan & China). The inclusion marks a significant milestone in VIMID’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its market position, align its operations with international standards and expand access to the global investment community.
According to the list of changes announced by FTSE Russell as part of its August 2026 index review, VVS is among the 90 Vietnamese stocks added to the FTSE Global Micro Cap Index. The changes are scheduled to take effect on 21 September 2026, coinciding with the official reclassification of Vietnam’s equity market by FTSE Russell from Frontier to Secondary Emerging market status.

A New Milestone in VIMID’s Integration into International Capital Markets
FTSE Russell is one of the world’s leading providers and administrators of investment indices. The FTSE Global Equity Index Series (FTSE GEIS) covers more than 19,000 securities across large-, mid-, small- and micro-cap segments in 49 developed and emerging markets worldwide. The series is widely used by financial institutions and international asset managers as a benchmark for portfolio construction and the development of investment products.
VVS’s inclusion in the FTSE Global Micro Cap Index indicates that the stock has met FTSE Russell’s screening criteria relating to market capitalisation, liquidity, free float, market accessibility and market transparency.
The inclusion represents an important milestone reflecting VIMID’s progress in corporate governance, information disclosure and the adoption of standards aligned with international capital market practices. It also increases VVS’s visibility across global index and investment data systems, creating greater opportunities to attract investment funds, financial institutions and international investors seeking exposure to growth-oriented companies in Vietnam.
Strong Business Performance Provides a Solid Foundation for Growth
VVS’s inclusion in the FTSE Global Micro Cap Index comes against the backdrop of VIMID’s strong growth in both business scale and operating performance. In the first six months of 2026, VIMID recorded strong growth, generating more than VND 7 trillion in revenue, equivalent to approximately 74% of its full-year target. Profit before tax reached VND 515.6 billion, representing 112% of the 2026 full-year profit target approved by the General Meeting of Shareholders.
Alongside its core business operations, VIMID is accelerating its long-term growth strategy by expanding its commercial vehicle ecosystem, strengthening its after-sales capabilities and implementing the VMASS Automobile Manufacturing and Assembly Plant project at the Hai Phong Free Trade Zone.
With total investment capital of approximately USD 50 million, the project’s principal production activities include:
- Manufacturing and assembly of automobiles and motor vehicles powered by various energy sources, including gasoline, diesel, electricity, hybrid power and natural gas, with an expected capacity of 15,000 vehicles per year and projected annual revenue of approximately VND 8 trillion.
- Manufacturing of semi-trailers, trailers, vehicle bodies, cargo bodies, cabins and other components, with an expected capacity of approximately 10,000 products per year and projected annual revenue of VND 400 billion.
- Import, export and wholesale distribution activities serving the core manufacturing operations, with projected annual revenue of approximately VND 1 trillion.
The project marks a strategic shift for VIMID from a company focused primarily on product distribution and services toward a broader role with deeper participation in the automotive manufacturing value chain.
Upon its expected commencement of operations in 2028, VMASS is expected to enable VIMID to gain greater control over its supply chain, expand its market share and drive further growth in revenue and profitability. These foundations are expected to reinforce VIMID’s long-term growth prospects, support the expansion of its market capitalisation and create conditions for VVS to further strengthen its position within international index systems.
VIMID Gains Recognition from Leading International Index Providers
Before its inclusion in the FTSE Global Micro Cap Index, VVS was added to the MSCI Frontier Markets Small Cap Index in May 2026. The consecutive inclusion of VVS in the index systems of two major international index providers, MSCI and FTSE Russell, reflects the gradual increase in the stock’s visibility and recognition in international capital markets. MSCI’s May 2026 review confirms Vietnam Machine INV as an addition to the MSCI Frontier Markets Small Cap Index.
This development also provides further momentum for VIMID to continue strengthening its corporate governance framework, ensuring transparency, enhancing the quality of information disclosure and expanding investor relations activities in line with professional international standards.
Staying Focused on Long-Term Growth
Inclusion in the FTSE Global Micro Cap Index represents an important milestone, while also setting higher expectations for VIMID as it enters its next stage of development.
VIMID views inclusion in international indices not as an end in itself, but as part of its broader journey toward building a transparent, efficient and sustainable business. The Company will continue to focus on its core business operations, strengthen corporate governance, expand its capital base, improve the liquidity of its shares and safeguard the long-term interests of shareholders.
With an increasingly solid business foundation, a strategic transition toward manufacturing and an ambition to elevate Vietnam’s commercial vehicle industry, VIMID expects to further expand its presence in the capital markets and progressively reach higher levels within international index systems.
